When I first discovered that Pro-Line Racing had came out with a new Badlands tire, interest grew. The original Pro-Line Badlands have always been a favorite of mine. The Badlands feature an motocross style tread pattern that works very well on dirt and grassy terrain. Now it is time to take a look at the newer Pro-Line Badlands MX M2.
Pro-Line Racing Badlands MX M2 compared to the older design.
The old design of the Pro-Line Badlands held up nicely and performed well, in the right terrain. I experienced quick wearing when I used them on road. Harder surfaces also seemed to wear the Badlands quicker than dirt and grass.
Now, let’s look at the newer Pro-Line Badlands MX tires.
Next, we can take a look at the tires side by side.
As you can see, the newer tread design has chunkier knobs. The tread “pattern” is pretty much the same on both tires. The newer MX tire seems to be re-designed for more performance and durability. The M2 in the name of this tire stands for the “Medium” compound it is made from.

What are we putting the Badlands MX on?
The Pro-Line Badlands MX comes pre-mounted to a Mach 10 wheel made for 17mm hex adapters. This size hex is usually the stock size on most 1/8 scale buggies. The RC Patrol’s Arrma Typhon is perfect for this setup, and that is what we plan to put them on.
Before we mount the tires to the buggy, let’s look at the stock Arrma Typhon tires next to the Badlands MX.
You can easily see that the Badlands MX are more aggressive looking than the stock Arrma Typhon tire. They are close in height and similar in width, but the Badlands win, in my opinion.
Here is a comparison shot of all the tires we talked about in this article.
The older Badlands and the stock Arrma Typhon tires are close to the same width. The newer Badlands MX is slightly wider than the other two. I favor a slightly wider tire for our buggy, as that would seem to benefit the performance with that bit of extra contact patch.
Now, lets take a look at the Pro-Line Badlands MX M2 on the RC buggy.
Final thoughts on the Badlands MX M2.
At the end of the day, the Badlands MX M2 from Pro-Line Racing looks good on our buggy. They are pleasing to the eye and seem to be re-designed for better performance. They fit on the Arrma Typhon without a single issue.
The price of the Badlands MX run you under 100$ for a set of two, which is a result of each pair costing around 41$. They come pre-mounted, which means no glue is required.
Prices are listed from Horizon Hobby and the Pro-Line Racing web sites. Below are links to both the Badlands MX M2 tires and the Arrma Typhon Mega 1/8 scale RTR RC buggy.
